Position Reporting:
This position is part of Sunday Cool – Art Department reporting to the Art Manager and Creative Director
Compensation:
Hourly position: $18/hour
Work Schedule: Monday – Friday: 8:30am – 5:00pm [40 hours/week].
This is considered an “In-House” position, not done remotely. Overtime may be required based on workload and client/sales demands. This position will be likely to have overtime or weekend work during the peak of busy season, running May-July.

As a member of the Art Team, a Separation Artist is responsible for the separation of all graphics developed for clients, ensuring a great client experience. The Separation Artist will also play a key role in the quality control process by thoroughly reviewing all artwork using the "Flight Check" form to catch and correct any errors before production. This position requires close collaboration with the screen team, print floor, and art team to resolve print issues on press and prevent potential customer service issues.
A Separation Artist is expected to stay updated on company products, services, policies, and procedures, as well as the latest separation techniques, ensuring the highest quality product is produced. Additionally, they will document and report any identified issues, working proactively with other departments to continuously improve the quality and efficiency of the production process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Separation of Graphics:
As a member of the Art Team, a Separation Artist is responsible for the separation of all graphics developed for clients to ensure a great client experience. The artist will collaborate with the screen team, print floor, and art team as needed to resolve print issues on press. - Quality Control Checkpoint:
Implement and execute quality control checks using the "Flight Check" form to ensure all artwork is error-free before proceeding to the next stage, preventing potential customer service issues. - Translate Graphics to Printable Art:
Determinethe correct ink colors and mesh counts used for each project, translatingclient-provided graphics into production-ready artwork. - Advanced Screen Print Separation:
Develop advanced-level screen print separations with accuracy, using knowledge of both vector and raster-based spot color print separation and techniques. - FileModification:
Ability to modify TIFF and creative base multi-color spot operations in AdobeIllustrator and Photoshop. - Self-Check Process:
Self-check jobs for correct print layers, including job numbers, colors, and styles. - Problem-Solving Under Pressure:
Act with a sense of urgency to identify solutions and take the necessary action to solve problems under tight production deadlines. - Press Approvals:
Provide press approvals for production runs as needed to ensure the highest quality output. - Prioritization and Adaptability:
Meet deadlines while prioritizing workload, adapting to change, and maintaining composure under pressure. - Continuous Improvement:
Maintain an intense focus on up-to-date separation techniques to ensure the highest quality product is produced. - Feedback Loop Creation:
Establisha feedback loop with the art, screen, and print teams to continuously improveprocesses and reduce the incidence of errors. - Documentation and Reporting:
Accurately document any errors or issues identified during the quality control process and report them to the Art Manager and Creative Director for continuous improvement. - Cross-Department Collaboration:
Collaborate with other departments, including Customer Service and Sales, to communicate potential issues and work towards effective resolutions before production.
Skills and Requirements:
- At least 2-3 experience in the screen print industry or screen print shops
- DETAIL ORIENTED
- Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design a plus
- 2-3 years design experience a plus
- Advanced knowledge in Adobe Illustrator, AdobePhotoshop and Adobe Creative Suite
- Capable of working in a Mac environment
- Knowledge of Screen printing and techniques
- Advanced Illustration skills
Physical Requirements:
Able to sit and view a computer screen for extended periods of time.

During the first 90 days we will be equipping you with the necessary resources and training you specifically for the above position. Sunday Cool has a 90-day probationary period for all new employees, which includes a 30, 60 & 90-day feedback meeting with your direct leadership team to gain helpful insight, glean new perspectives, discuss positive performance, and address any areas needing improvement. Before the conclusion of your probationary period, you will be tested on the Art Department-provided handbook, policies and procedures, as well as products to qualify you. All staff artists are required to pass with a 95% or above to qualify as an employee of Sunday Cool. Sunday Cool, LLC reserves the right to terminate the employment of any employee at any time without notice and without payment in lieu of notice, subject to the laws of the State of Florida.
We pay biweekly (Every other week) on Fridays. Pay is based on eighty standard hours per pay period and Sunday Cool has 26 pay periods/year.
Sunday Cool is a drug-free workplace. The company reserves the right to conduct drug testing on all employees. In the event of a workplace accident the impacted employee will be required to be tested for drugs.
